How do you like to work? For example, do I get to see draft pages/designs before it goes live?

A link is sent to you when each page is completed so that you can see if there is anything you don’t like.

What can I expect from you?

I will build you a BEAUTIFUL website that is fast, responsive, secure, gives the user a great experience with easy navigation. Easy to find and easy to update.

What do you do and what do I need to do?

You will need to provide all text content (unless you wish to use a copywriter) and images. I will then be able to start the building of the website.

I will also make sure all images are alt tagged. This will help the SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).

Who makes the decisions on organising the content or is that something we do together?

I like to work closely with my clients so we work together on this!

What timescales do you work to?

This does rely on the number of pages and  on complexity. Let’s say 4-5 weeks to be on the safe side.

How do things like colour and illustrations get decided? Do you have things that I can choose from? Are there extra costs for using stock images?

This is decided by both of us. I like to work with my client on this unless they have already made the decisions.

For stock images, places like Shutterstock offer one off packages for how many images you will need. These normally come in 2, 5 or 25. These packages will depend on how many pages you require but bear in mind that SEO likes images to be on every page!

Is there anything you can do to make sure that my website appears in search results?

That is down to the SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and choosing the right keywords.

There are some free versions out there, like Yoast for example. However, you are limited so I would advise using the premium service.

What are the GDPR issues associated with this and how do you manage them? What about cookies?

These are legal documents that I cannot draw up for you. What I will do though is when you have these documents is to link them to your website.

I will install a Cookie banner for you as a matter of course.

Can I send messages to my mailing list via the website?
No, an external mass mailing company would have to be used. For example  Mail Chimp.

I am happy to set this up for you at £50 p/h.

Can my website contain a blog or two?

Yes definitely!

To have at least one blog is good as there is constantly new text and images added to your website which Google likes.

If I’m going to create links to/from the other organisations I work with, what do you need from them to make that happen?

I can create the link to them by having their URL. They would have to do backlink on their site to yours using your URL.

Are there any security issues I need to bear in mind?

My hosting account is very secure, you can get added security but this is paid for.

Is it possible to build a website in stages? For example, to have a simple one to start with while I work on content for more pages, or is it better to take more time and do it all in one go?

Absolutely! Pages can be added/deleted/edited at anytime and you can have as many pages as you would like.

How will I know my website has gone live?

Once your website has gone live, you will be able to see it online and access it through its web address. You can also test it by visiting the website using a web browser or by asking others to visit it and provide feedback.

maintenance / after care

Do you offer aftercare? If so, how much? For example, once the site exits, who adds new stuff such as blogs, videos (Powerpoint presentations), event photos?
Yes I do!

Maintenance is £50 p/h. This includes me checking for any updates/errors on your site, adding new pages etc. as required by you.

What happens if there’s a problem? How quickly can you fix it?

If an error occurs then that will have my full attention. That’s why you hire me for maintenance!

How often does a website need to be updated?

Replacing or adding text constantly is good practice. Google does not appreciate static websites.

This is why having a blog is so handy.

Finance

How much does it cost? Is it extra for hosting/email/web contact form/ reports on visitor tracking?

This depends on how many pages you want, the complexity of the site – e.g if you want a booking and payment system linked to your site.

Hosting is £95 p/a, Maintenance, £50 p/h, email is free to set up.

Google Analytics will show you which keywords and what if any advertising working.

I can install this for you at a cost of £50 p/h.

What is your payment method?

I will send you a quote asking you to pay a 50% deposit with my bank details on.

Once this deposit is paid I will start creating the website for you.
